Dr. James J. Gift was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. He completed his undergraduate education at Boston University, then moved west to Salt Lake City, Utah to explore the intermountain west. He attended Georgetown University School of Dentistry, graduated Summa Cum Laude and was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.

Dr. Gift joined the United States Air Force in 1987. He completed a General Practice Residency at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, Louisiana, and was later stationed at K.I. Sawyer AFB in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Dr. Gift then went to Ohio State University on Air Force Sponsorship for his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency training and M.S. degree, completing his Air Force career at MacDill AFB in Tampa as the Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Gift holds membership in the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Florida Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has been an active BLS instructor/provider and ACLS instructor/provider for over 24 years.

Dr. Gift has extensive experience preforming oral surgery in Tampa, FL and in orthognathic surgery to correct dentofacial and skeletal malocclusion and deformity, severe obstructive sleep apnea, as well as facial cosmetics, laser surgery, implant dentistry, bone graft reconstruction for implants, dental alveolar surgery, wisdom teeth and maxillofacial pathology.

Dr. Gift has done numerous lectures on emergency medical treatment and pathology for Dentists.
